Wolf's Enemy Available in Paperback

Paperback Version
Wolf's Enemy is Now Available in Paperback!

It takes a little extra time to reformat a manuscript into paperback after it's created in ebook format. That extra time also gives me a chance to make corrections on any errors my beta readers and ARC readers find in the ebook. Wolf's Enemy in paperback has finally published and is available on Amazon. If you wish, you can read preview chapters here.

What's Next?

Now that this book is done, I am working on Wolf's Quest, which will be book 9 in the series. In that book, Snarl will travel to Colorado to determine if the woman held captive by the Talla Ridge Ranch Pack is his missing mate, Freya. There should be lots of surprises when he gets there.

Other News

I am building an ARC team for the Texas Ranch Wolf Pack series. If you are interested, please contact me and let me know. I still have a few openings left.

I know for sure I have four more books to write for the series. There is also a possibility of two spin-off series, or maybe three, including a young adult series.

Off to work!

Cover Reveal and Sneak Peek: Wolf's Enemy

Cover Reveal for Wolf's Enemy: The Texas Ranch Wolf Pack (book 8)

Wolf's Enemy is the next installment of the Texas Ranch Wolf Pack Series, and follows Wolf's Queen.

Once again, Nate Rollins, the Royal Alpha Were King, is faced with the plans of rogue vampires.

Nate's meets with President Whelan to let him know a possible war is in the future. He shouldn't be surprised when the president and his cabinet aren't happy that there is a militarized group of nonhumans occupying large areas throughout the United States.

The adventure continues . . .

Chapter 1

Vice-President Zachary Collins slammed his cellphone onto his desk on top of the treaty negotiation documents he should be reviewing. Five weeks and still no news. And now, Arthur Tyler, his Huntsman advisor was missing. Wiping his face with his hands, he stood and turned to the window behind his desk. The first shadows of evening drifted across the manicured White House lawn. He shook his head and wondered what to do. Even now, he twitched when anyone tapped on his office door. Keeping watch in every direction was getting to him, but since the failed attempt on the president’s life . . ..
He heaved a shuddering sigh, swallowed, and sat in his office chair. No one knows I was involved, he assured himself. Well, no one but Secretary of Defense Bianchi. And he wouldn’t talk. Not unless Bianchi wanted President Whelan to know he was a werewolf. Among the government officials, only Bianchi even knew of the failed attempt. A knock resounded through the room, then strains of canned Christmas carols drifted faintly on the air when the office door opened, and his secretary stepped inside.
“Sir, Arthur Tyler called. He asked to speak with you, but the call was cut off before I could put him through.”
Collins gritted his teeth. “What did he say?”
“All he said was HQ is gone.” She tilted her head, her short brunette hair falling forward to caress her cheek. The tiny seasonal bell earrings she wore rang softly when her head moved. “He didn’t say what HQ he was talking about. The call just ended.”
Pulling in a long, slow breath, Collins nodded. “Thank you, Ms. Tremaine. That will be all.”
With a nod, she stepped out and shut the door behind her. Collins stared at the door. Gone? How could HQ just be gone? He stood and walked around the desk to give himself room to pace. Head down, hands clasped behind his back, his footsteps echoed in the small office while he tried to decide what to do. If HQ was gone . . .. Gone? Blown up? Destroyed? Overrun? Why didn’t Tyler give more information than that?
He shivered. If something happened to the Triumvirate, the Huntsmen leaders would blame him. Unless he could do some damage control. He blew out a harsh breath and walked to his desk. Sitting in his desk chair, he unlocked the bottom desk drawer and pulled the drawer completely out of the desk. The phone he needed was wrapped in plastic and taped to the back of the drawer. Retrieving it, he took another slow breath, then pressed the Favorites button marked Uncle Victor. He had no Uncle Victor. Instead, the number was a direct line to Huntsman HQ hidden somewhere in middle Europe. His rank in the Huntsmen wasn’t high enough to let him know exactly where in Europe.
When the call went through Collins wasn’t surprised there was no voice answer. He twitched and glanced around, then decided to trust the device he installed to prevent anyone recording or listening to conversations in his office. “This is U-leader One. I need to speak to the Consul.”
“The Consul is unavailable. You will be contacted.” The line went dead.
Following Huntsman protocol, Collin triggered the virus installed on the phone, waited for it to complete, then pulled the back off the burner phone and removed the battery. Using his pocket knife, he pried out the encapsulated SIM card, then shredded it. He wiped everything carefully to remove his fingerprints. The phone might be found, but no one would ever be able to follow the call. Putting some of the pieces back in the plastic bag, he retaped it to the back of the drawer and replaced the drawer. The rest of the pieces went into his pockets. The great thing about being Vice-President is that he wasn’t searched like most of the people who came into the White House.
Having done what he could to ensure his future remained viable, he leaned back in his chair and wondered if the enemy, whoever they were, caught or killed Tyler. Shame if he was dead. It was hard to find a man you could trust. Collins shrugged and turned back to the negotiation contracts President Whelan asked him to review. Tomorrow morning, the Huntsmen would contact him, but for now, he had work to do.

Chapter 2

Nate Rollins, Alpha of the Texas Ranch Wolf Pack and recently crowned Royal King of all Were, caught his left wrist in his right hand, stretched his arms as high as he could, then yawned as he dropped his arms to rest on the conference table in front of him. Shaking his head, he blinked at the lights flashing on Jonathan Dyers face from twinkling Christmas lights Janelle draped around the office window behind him. Jonathan, his pack Beta, sat across the table, his eyes downcast at the tablet in his hands.
Nate closed his eyes and shook his head. It was too early for blinking lights. “What’s important enough for you to get me up at . . .,” he turned his head and peered at the wall clock, “0400?”
“General Brighton called.”
Nate yawned and shook his head again, trying to shake the sleepiness off. “What did Brighton want?”
“They captured a Huntsman skulking around the OK HQ last night.”
Nate smothered another yawn. In the back of his mind, his wolf growled and went back to sleep. Agreeing with Koreth’s annoyance at the early hour, Nate put his hand over his mouth to cover the yawn he couldn’t avoid. “Sorry, didn’t get to sleep until well after midnight. Maybe coffee would help.”
Jonathan nodded, put down the tablet, and walked to the sink along the back wall. With sure hands, he filled the pot, poured the water into the reservoir, added coffee to the filter, then turned it on. With the pot beginning to gurgle, he moved back to his chair. “I should have made some before waking you.”
“Might have helped.” Nate rubbed his eyes and blinked again. “So, what is it Brighton wants me to do about this Huntsman he found?”
“I’m not sure. He wants you to call him. I told him it would be a few minutes.” Jonathan smirked at him. “Good thing, too. Don’t think you could hear him over all the yawning.”
“Probably right.” Nate sniffed and cleared his throat. “Didn’t expect the wedding reception to last so late.”
“It lasted almost as long as the reception did when you married Janelle.”
“Hmm. Do all were weddings last most of the night?”
Jonathan shrugged. “Beats me. Until you and Janelle had your double ceremony with Eli and Renata, I never attended a human-style wedding before. Were usually just have a mating ceremony.”
Nate grinned at the annoyed expression on his friend’s face. “So, you’re telling me I started a new trend?”
“Maybe so.”
The pot gave its last gurgle and coffee finished filling the carafe. Jonathan went to the pot and returned with two cups of black coffee. The phone rang as he set a cup in front of Nate. Arching his brow in question at Nate, he waited for Nate’s nod, then picked up the phone.
“Rollins Ranch.”
“He up, yet?”
Jonathan covered the mouthpiece. “It’s Brighton.”
“Put it on speaker.”
With a nod, Jonathan pressed the speaker button on the phone base.
Heaving an inaudible sigh, Nate sipped his coffee. “Good morning, General Brighton. What’s up?”
“I need you here.”
“Why?”
“We found a Huntsman prowling around the OK HQ. His block is stronger than anyone here can break.” The general’s annoyance came through in his tone.
Nate set his mug on the table and wiped his face. “I don’t know what that means, General.”
“It means he’s more than a flunky. He’s high-level, and a V-Triumph commander set the block, not a low-level vampire.”
“So, he has information we could use?”
“He has information we need.” Brighton hesitated, then said, “Nate, a block this strong may indicate that he has knowledge of the Huntsmen compounds in other countries.”
“Give me an hour, General.”
“I’ll make sure the compound center is vacant.” Brighton ended the call.
Nate gulped his coffee, ignoring the burn going down his throat. He needed the caffeine, and an hour didn’t give him much time. “I don’t know how long I’ll be gone, Jonathan. Janelle is in charge. If you need me, have Ezrath contact Koreth through the pack link.”

Shoving his chair back, he strode from the office to his bedroom. He couldn’t leave without saying goodbye to Janelle. She wouldn’t be happy about him leaving this close to Christmas, but more and more, his life seemed beyond his control.

Wolf's Queen is Published in eBook and Paperback

Wolf's Queen, Book 7 in the Texas Ranch Wolf Pack Series

Wolf's Queen, Book 7 in The Texas Ranch Wolf Pack Series has Published!

I am excited to make this announcement.

After the success of the series, and the box set, Wolf's Destiny, the next installment of the story. Wolf's Queen, has published! The book is also available in paperback!

Wolf's Queen is set in the two week period between the battle in Oklahoma when Nate took the fight to the Huntsmen and the final chapter of Wolf's Reign.

This story isn't as militaristic as some of the previous books in the series. It shows how Janelle grows into her role as the worldwide Queen of Were.

I  hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Blurb:

With the Oklahoma Huntsmen routed, the injured healing, and the battles over, at least for now, Janelle, Queen of the Were, wants nothing more than for things to get back to normal.

She takes a mixed group of were ladies to Houston for a ‘girls day,’ but the fun stops when human traffickers kidnap two of her pack.

The traffickers don’t know what they have.

More important, they don’t know what’s coming for them.

The Alpha Queen is hunting . . .

If you love reading about werewolves and other shifters, you will love learning about the Texas Ranch Wolf Pack!

Wolfs Destiny Available for Pre-Order

Wolf's Destiny Available for Pre-Order

 Wolf's Destiny Box Set
Wolf's Destiny, the box set of my six-books in the Texas Ranch Wolf Pack Series, is available for pre-order.

Orders will be fulfilled on February 27.

Now that all six books are complete and published, I have created the box set for those who want to get the entire story at once.

The set is $7.89, a saving of $10.05 for readers purchasing the entire set as opposed to purchasing each book individually at $2.99 each.

Publishing this box set was a learning experience. Collecting the different files into one, then creating the cover and the box set image took a while. I did a complete re-edit of the books before combining them into one file.

Wolf's Reign is in Paperback

The Paperback Version Wolf's Reign Has Published

Prefer paperback books?

Wolf's Reign is now available in paperback on Amazon!

I love paperbacks. I love the feel of them in my hands, and I enjoy seeing them on my bookshelf, waiting for me to pick them up again and reread them.

It's especially special to have a book I wrote in my hands. Somehow, it makes it more real than when it sits on my Kindle waiting for me to choose it from the other books I've collected.

In Other News

In addition to the other storylines I am working on, I have been putting the six books of the Texas Ranch Wolf Pack Series into a box set. The book (all the books together) will be newly edited and should publish later this month. With over 220,000 words total, this one won't make it into a paperback format. The cost to purchase it would just be too high.

As part of the process, I am teaching myself how to create a box set image. It's a lot harder than it seems like it would be. When I publish the box set, I'll post the image on the blog.

The title of the box set is Wolf's Destiny. The rest of the series is enrolled in Kindle Unlimited, and this book will also be a KU book.

Texas Ranch Wolf Pack Book Series Cover Changes

Series Book Cover Changes

After consulting with other authors and some book cover designers, I decided to change the covers of the Texas Ranch Wolf Pack Series books.

Thanks to Members of the Guerrilla Publishing: Book Marketing Support and Feedback for Authors

I want to thank all the writers and book cover designers in the Guerrilla Publishing: Book Marketing Support and Feedback for Authors Facebook group, with special thanks going to Derek Murphy. Derek is the administrator of the Facebook group, the author of Guerilla Publishing: Dangerously Effective Writing and Book Marketing Strategies, and is a book cover designer, too. If you want to learn more about Derek and the helps he offers other writers, you can check out his blog. The help I receive from Derek and his group is fantastic. If you are a struggling author, the Facebook group is well worth looking into.

I hope to have book 6 in the series, Wolf's Reign, finished by the 10th of December. While this title is what I have planned from the beginning, I am now thinking of changing the title. I'll let you know if that happens.

Please note that the links in the previous blog post still work, even if the image is the old image.

Wolf's Reign Update & Links to Read Free Chapters of Previous Books

Wolf's Reign Update & Links to Read Free Chapters of Previous Books in the Series

Wolf's Reign Update

Today, I passed the 11,000 word mark in book 6 of the Texas Ranch Wolf Pack series. My goal is to publish by the end of the first week in December, if not before.

I am excited that new characters have jumped into the story, including a possible love interest for Paige Marston, a former Black Forest Huntman who now works to stop the evil vampire V-Triumph.

Nate finally understands what's holding him back from accepting the responsibility of the crown.

Alphas from around the world, including the Serengeti Pride, the Gir Forest Pride, the Kanha Tiger Ambush, the Siberia Tiger Ambush, the Sorneo Clouded Leapard Leap, The Tennessee Highland Rim Pride, the Daegu Vixen Skulk, the Amazon Basin Jaguars, and the Alberta Pumas, as well as the Colorado and Oklahoma Wolf Packs, come to Texas to decide on who will be crowned the Alpha Were King, King of all Were.

But the Triumvirate, secret members of the V-Triumph, send Black Forest Huntsmen to stop the coronation. The vampires can't rule the world, if the were are united under one king. One king who will stop at nothing to protect humanity from the V-Triumph vampires. Will Nate and the Were succeed, or will the vampires turn the humans of Earth into fodder?

The entire series is in Kindle Unlimited, so that subscribers can read for FREE. Others pay only $2.99 per book.

To give you a taste of the series, I have posted some free chapters from each book. Click the book's title below to travel to that specific blog post.

So, What's Coming After Wolf's Reign

I'm not sure at this point, but I believe this series will be complete after book 5, Wolf's Reign. My characters will tell me if I am wrong. :)

However, I will not be done writing in this world. Minor characters want their stories told, too. I am planning a second series in this universe telling the back stories of many of these characters, how they came to be a part of the series, and where their lives take them from here. Time will tell how many books are written in this universe. If more stories keep popping into my head, this universe may supply several series.

Have ideas about possible stories for these characters? Let me know in the comments. I'll discuss your ideas with my characters and see if any will take the challenge. :)

Thank you for reading my books. Thank you for reading my blog posts.

I can't tell you how much I appreciate you all!

Preview of Wolf's Claim, A Texas Ranch Wolf Pack Story

Update on Wolf's Claim, Book 2 in the Texas Ranch Wolf Pack Series

In a previous post, I shared my revised cover for the next book in the series, Wolf's Claim.

The writing is going well, and I'm over 11,000 words, now.

I received my work back from my beta reader and made some changes that tightened up the prose and made the book a better read. At least that is my hope.

I would love to read your comments. Please post them below.
Here is an advance look at the first two Chapters:

King’s Prophecy

Lost to Were
One will rise
Lycos, Defender
Protector, King

Chapter 1

Nate ran his hand through his hair and tried again to make sense of the figures in the spreadsheet columns. So much had happened in the last week, he felt out of his depth. I’m a cop, not an accountant! Cops are supposed to work in the public, not be cooped up in an office reading complicated spreadsheets.
We are Alpha. Nate raised an eyebrow at Koreth’s thought. “Yes, I know.” He sighed. “And I don’t regret resigning from the force. I just don’t like working with numbers much.” He shook his head. “Just don’t have the patience for it.”
Though he knew Koreth would hear and understand his thoughts, Nate had decided it was easier to keep his own thoughts separate from Koreth’s by speaking out loud when there was no need for silent communication. Deep in his mind, Nate felt Koreth’s amusement.
When his cell ringtone sounded, Nate felt relief for the interruption. “Nate, here.”
“Nate, it’s Ben.” Ben hesitated, then spoke in a rush. “The clowder is in trouble. I will explain later, but I would like to bring them all to the ranch.”
“What kind of trouble?”
“Flora got a call this morning from a friend of hers that works with the Were Council. They got the reports of the attack that Jonathan sent them. They’ve decreed clowder extermination, because of Lorena’s actions.” Ben cleared his throat. “You are their only chance, Nate. I hate to beg, but . . ..”
“Bring them in, Ben. We’ll see what we can do to fix this.”
“We’re on our way. Umm, there are 27 of us, counting me.” Ben cleared his throat.
Nate frowned. Twenty-seven? “How soon will you be here?”
“We’re in Seguin, so it won’t take too long. Thanks, Nate.” There was a strained silence on the cell, then Ben cleared his throat again. “The Council Execution Squad won’t be far behind us.”
“We’ll be ready.” After ending the call, Nate shoved the spreadsheets into a drawer. Koreth sent an assembly call to the pack as Nate headed downstairs.

*****

“They’re coming here?” Reese seemed to strangle on his words. “Here? After they killed most of the pack?”
Nate’s gaze pinned the teen, only letting up when the boy started squirming. “The old Queen caused all the deaths. Those coming are innocent and will be treated as such unless it is proven they were involved. Understood?”
When Reese nodded, albeit unhappy with the command, Nate turned to look over the group gathered at the table. “There will be 26, in addition to Ben. They’ll be here within the hour. The Council Execution Squad is on their heels.” He stopped and looked at each of the were. “I plan to offer them asylum.”
Several voices started at once, then silenced when Nate held up his hand. “I know why you feel like you do. I understand that you probably hate them and maybe fear them.” He leaned forward, again capturing their full attention. “These people did nothing. Just as you follow the orders of your Alpha, they follow the orders of their Queen. Lorena and her family caused the deaths here. Lorena and her family are dead. These people were not involved.”
Reese muttered under his breath, “They knew.”
“Maybe. We don’t know that.” Nate frowned. “I don’t condone what they did. I won’t pretend it didn’t happen or that there are no repercussions, but neither will I allow innocents to die if there is something I can do to prevent it.”
“Nate, going against the Council could get us all in trouble, too.” Janelle bit her lip, then shrugged. “I don’t want to see innocents hurt, either, but what can we do?”
“You can do nothing.” Nate stood and walked to the window. Staring out at the yard, he lifted the melded medallion he wore and fingered the design. “Koreth and I will deal with the Execution Squad.”
“They’ll kill you!”
The fear in Janelle’s voice brought Nate around to face her. “Koreth,” he said quietly, “it’s time.”
Nate closed his eyes and tilted his head back. Sudden silence swept the room as he changed. Not into a wolf, but into the wolf-man of ancient legend.  Instead of shrinking into Koreth’s wolf form, Nate grew until he stood seven feet tall. His shoulders widened, the fabric of his t-shirt shimmering away.
Nate brought his face down, his glowing red eyes fixed on his pack. His snout twitched, sniffing the pack. Behind him, his tail ripped through his jeans and swished from one side to the other. As one, the pack scooted their chairs away from the table and dropped to their knees, heads bowed.
Nate was surprised that his voice was so raspy and much deeper than normal when he said, “We will claim the clowder as pack. We will protect all.”
So, when did we start using the royal ‘we?’ Nate asked Koreth. In his mind, Koreth smirked at him. When we became Us.

Chapter 2

As quickly as he became wolf-man, Nate shimmered and once again became human. The pack kept to their knees. Frowning, Nate walked to Janelle, captured her elbow in his large hand and gently pulled her to her feet. He cupped her face in his right hand and raised her eyes to his. There was wonderment in her eyes. That he could understand. He was a bit overwhelmed with his new change ability, too. What he didn’t expect and didn’t like was the touch of fear he saw in her eyes.
“Janelle?”
She swallowed and a single tear coursed down her cheek. Nate caught it with his thumb. “What’s wrong?”
Jonathan cleared his throat. “Umm, Nate.”
Turning only his head, Nate looked at him. There was fear and . . . Nate raised an eyebrow . . . compassion? After a quick glance at the kneeling teens, Nate sighed. “Get up, Jonathan. You, too, kids.”
Their move to their feet seemed almost reluctant. None of the kids would look at him. He blew his breath out in a loud whoosh. “Okay. Someone tell me what I obviously don’t know. What’s going on?” When no one answered, he looked specifically at Jonathan. “Talk, Jonathan.”
Adam’s apple bobbing several times, Jonathan raised his fearful gaze to meet Nate’s. “You are Lycos.” His voice held a slight tremor. “Lycos are the . . . ancient rulers of all shifters.”
“Ancient rulers?”
“There have been no Lycos since just after the Time of Separation when the Ancient sent his sons out to build their own packs.”
“Okay. So why do I feel there is more to this than you’re telling me?”
Janelle turned her face and pressed a kiss into his palm holding her cheek. “Nate, we need to talk. Not here, not now.” She glanced at Jonathan. Nate frowned when Jonathan nodded at her. She turned back and took his face in both her hands. “You have much to learn, and little time.” She looked deep into his eyes. “With your permission, Koreth?”
Granted.
Nate could tell all the pack heard Koreth. They each gave their attention to Janelle as she dropped her hands from Nate’s face and turned to face them. When she spoke, her voice dripped with the power of Koreth’s reinforcement. “This will not be discussed with anyone, not even among yourselves. Until this command is rescinded, this is a private pack matter.”
Again, as one, the pack bowed their heads to acknowledge and accept the command. Nate glanced at Janelle, right eyebrow raised. “You will explain?”
“I will,” she motioned toward the front of the house, “but not now. The cats have arrived. Nate, they cannot know of this new ability until you fully understand it.”
For a long moment, Nate studied her worried brow and her fearful eyes. Our mate is right. This is not for them to know, yet. Nate sighed and ran his right hand through his hair. Okay. I’ll keep quiet about it for now. He could feel Koreth’s sympathy for him and his questions.
Blowing a breath out puffed cheeks, Nate offered Janelle his hand. “The Execution Squad will be right behind them. Let’s get them in the house, for now.”
